Hon. Captain Superintendent of Police,

(a) An Indian could live here on about 82 a week, apart from house rent. The minimum for the latter in Victoria would be about 82 a week. In an outlying district it would be less.

(b) A woman could live on about $1.50 a week.

(c) A child below the age of 9 years would cost about $1 a week. Above the age of 9 years the cost would incrense, apart from the question of school.

(a) A boy might be able to get a job here at the age of 18. It is not likely that he would get one sooner. There is no work for Indian girls here. A girl's allowance would have to be continued till she got married.

(sd.) P. P. J. Wodehouse
